Keeping Avery Germ Free

Many people have sent me messages and texts asking if we were going to have a welcome home party for Avery. As much as I would love to the answer is no. This is a very dangerous time of year for her immune system due to RSV and the flu. She is a premature baby and even though she looks healthy on the outside her lungs aren't as healthy as a term babies. Therefor we're taking extra precautions to try and keep her well. If Avery were to get RSV, it could cause major problems from her being hospitalized, back on a ventilator to even death. We can't take any chances. I won't jeopardize her health for one second.
We just want what's best for Avery and like I said before I would love nothing more than to have a huge party to celebrate our precious miracle, but it just can't happen. She won't be going to church, walmart, daycare, anywhere except her Dr. and hopefully just for well baby visits and her synagis shot. We won't even be going to family Thanksgiving or Christmas, because of all the kids and the risk of Avery catching something.
She tires easily and she needs all the rest she can get in order to gain weight and grow like she should. She does great with her bottles now but that alone saps her energy, so she can't be passed around and played with like a term baby. Due to all of these factors we have to keep the visiting, holding and touching to a minimum.
After April and depending on what her Dr. says I'm sure we can relax a little but until then I have to take strict precautions. We've just been through too much and she's come too far to let something happen that could be avoided by us slacking on our part. We truly appreciate all the support and prayers from all of you. I hope I don't offend anyone but I have to do what's best for Avery, I'm her only voice and advocate and I'll do whatever I have to do to keep her healthy.
